This song provided hope for the blacks during the discrimination because of the words of coming to carry me home which symbolizes hope and that the blacks will make it through this sticky situation.
This songs message is that no mater what race you are you are all the same
The message of the song is everyones a human even though they may be different race and thats what makes each person unique.
