We will do ALOT more work over the year on these types of sentences. Do not worry if you do not completely understand all these questions at this time. We needed to cover the material quickly so we had a basic idea of what types of sentences we can create. We will now spend most of the year mastering these sentence types (and more)!
Enjoy Rachel's and Anisha's Sammy Snake winning Book Talks below:
Thanks for putting my work on the blog!
ReplyDeleteEmma: Please go on wall wisher as much as you can, and post any interesting headlines from the news(paper, tv, computer)
An interesting word: Gobbledegook
ReplyDeleteEven though the word gobbledegook may not seem real, gobbledegook is a real word. It means: complicated language difficult to understand- Color Oxford English Dictionary.
Cool word Anisha! Good job for winning a Sammy Snake Anisha and Emma!
ReplyDeleteSorry, I meant Rachel, not Emma.
ReplyDeleteAnisha and Rachel- Great book talks! How many more book talks do you think we will do? That was fun. Congrats on the SAMMYs
ReplyDeleteScott- remember to go to wallwisher sometimes.
Everyone- Mr.B said we might film tomorrow. Some people are doing book talks tomorrow too. SL 2.6 Fri. When is the 1st current events session? Student council speeches are tomorrow too.
Guys, yesterday on the blog I posted a paragraph, can you give me any suggestions on it.
Good luck councilors on the speeches.
Have a good rest of the day.
See you guys tomorrow at rockin' Mr.Buxton's room!
weird word Anisha.
ReplyDeleteI think your Book talk was great! I liked how you did you on a book cover.
Hi Mr.B,
when I was gone, I think you talked about complex sentences.
Could you or anyone else explain it to me.
I've got a weird word too.
ReplyDeleteQuagmire- it means a bog or marsh.
Bog- means wet spongey area or ground. Real word! There are some weird words in english.
Thank you everyone who said great job.
ReplyDeleteThis is a message for all the people who wants to be part of the student council. GOOD LUCK !!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAlex, the 1st session of the curent events presentation is tommorrow.
ReplyDeleteMr Buxton, is it ok if instead I make a vid at home?
ReplyDeleteYes, Jacqueline.. that's fine...
ReplyDeletewhere are all these weird words coming from? Well, i can't complain if you are at least learning new vocabulary! I'm learning some words myself.
you 5 people get a plus point for consistently sharing on the the blog. That is just the people above this post!
Thanks everybody! I am going to look for more weird words! Interesting one, Rachel!
ReplyDeleteRachel: Your creativity in your book talk was prodigious( a word meaning: amazing, stupendous, astounding, wondrous, miraculous-dictionary.com)! I would never have thought have doing a popplet! Great job!
ReplyDeleteRachel we only did complex sentences today. What do you mean you missed the lesson??
ReplyDeleteMr. Buxton and Maya- thanx for the help with putting my booktalk on my thumbdrive!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff Anisha and Rachel! Anisha, I liked your hook which really made me laugh with the piano and the funny breath noises. Rachel, I like the way you put in a popplet and divide them in a smart way so people could see it as a book talk. I can't wait till my book talk is on. By the way, Thanks a lot for helping us get Sammy Snakes. If we could vote who would be the Student of the Week, I'd vote for Anisha as she uses the blog so often, she has amazing writing skills, and she's really good at math. Good Job Anisha. Why don't you want to be in the Student Council? You'd be perfect Anisha
ReplyDeleteOh, sorry Maddy. Breann got me confused she said that learning complex sentences was the day that I missed school.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nakul! I am going to try for student council
ReplyDeletenext semester. Acording to me, all the fun stuff comes next term.
Mr.Buxton, for the movie, may I use gobbledegook as one of my advanced words?
ReplyDeleteWhat is the WILF for the narrative movie?
ReplyDeleteI think it's on apposotives Anisha not sure
ReplyDeleteMan I wish I posted something before Mr. Buxton said the plus point thing
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't everyone else post so much. It seems that Maddy, Anisha (obviously), Rachel, Alex and I mostly go on it. Either people don't like posting or they don't even go to the blog. Hmmm... Doesn't it seem that Rohan never posts anything am I right?
ReplyDeleteThanks Nakul!
ReplyDeleteYou really shouldn't mention people's names like how you mentioned Rohan's name. It might offend the person.
When I think of dependent clauses, I think: an independent clause + a subordinate. Sometimes this is true, like in the sheet Mr. Buxton gave us.
ReplyDeleteWell if it offends you Rohan I didn't mean to and sorry.
ReplyDeleteDo we have to put our name school and email?
ReplyDeleteBecause I'm not sure if it's safe
Wow it's very invigorating to be outside now. It's so cold! Invigorating means cool. (temperature cool not personality cool)
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this is an issue but whenever I open into the blog, it automatically goes 3/4 the way to the bottom. Is this for everyone or just me.
ReplyDeleteNakul, if you are using Safari then it is normal. I am not sure about the other web browsers.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mr Buxton! :D Looking forward to tommorrow! Tee hee! hehehehe
ReplyDeleteNice word, Nakul!
ReplyDeleteNakul, Rohan does go on the blog its just that he doesn't know what to comment on the blog.
ReplyDeleteI use Google Chrome
ReplyDeleteHmmm... looking for more cool words
ReplyDeleteAh! Heres one stupefying. It means awesome or amazing.
ReplyDeleteDont worry, Nakul, it`s okay, but you are right... I just don't like typing things up to much. Mr.Buxton, I don't want to do student counsil any more... Anisha and Become the candidate instead.
ReplyDeleteabhorrent means terrible. I think that's how it's spelt.... Yeah it's abhorrent.
ReplyDeleteNo Rohan you'd do a good job! A very good one!
ReplyDeleteAnisha's probably sleeping now she can't make 1 overnight do it.
I guarantee you'd do a good job

ReplyDeleteIf you don't want to do it you don't have to but I know you'll do it well
ReplyDeleteThanks, but no thanks Rohan. First, I don't think I can step in now as I don't have a speech, and second, I plan to only run next term.

ReplyDeleteEveryone has the path of life, here is my path.
ReplyDeleteI think next term will be to hard to handle because there's spirit week and all that so I'll take the easier job. Problem is if I get elected there are some little 4th graders who don't like me. Hope they don't embarrass me.
ReplyDeleteYou should try for student counsel, Rohan. Don't just drop out! You might end up really liking it. At first, you might not have wanted to eat pizza, but then you turned out to really like it(if you don't really like pizza, then replace pizza with your fav. food). Don't give up until you try!
ReplyDeleteBy The Way VOTE FOR ME ADITYA! and everyone else
ReplyDeleteYeah and Anishas right arggh wrong timing
ReplyDeleteNakul, thats not going to get you anywhere! Forget it...
ReplyDeleteI know just trying get more self confidence don't hurt my feelings :-( JK!
ReplyDeletealluring that means good I think... well it's he antonym of terrible

ReplyDeletesqualid means wretched or foul and repulsive. Wow! I've learned a lot of vocabulary and it's not even homework. That's a first for me!
ReplyDeleteheedlessness means to ignore or to abandon something or someone
ReplyDeleteAnisha is your dictionary from the internet or is it your own dictionary
ReplyDeleteRohan tomorrow morning we our going to do the movie editing stuff for our last edit GOT IT!?
ReplyDeleteAnisha, how do you transit from one scene to another? Please tell me I don't know how to do it with my scenes in my video.
ReplyDeleteFor what Jacquline? Imovie?

ReplyDeleteGood Night

ReplyDeleteOh okay Jacqueline
ReplyDeleteHi Mr. Buxton!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:-D
ReplyDelete6th grade is AWSOME! I've missed you SO much! Thank you for getting me prepared for middle school (now I understand why you taught me all those coplicated things!)
-Matigan S.
P.S. I never knew gobbledegook was a word! Have fun teaching this year Mr. Buxton!
nakul you mean sleazy not sneazy.
ReplyDeleteno I mean sneazy
ReplyDeletenakul, check sleazy on anything. I checked 2 dictionaries, and guess what? It had nothing for sneazy and something for sleazy and the definition for sleazy was what you thought the definition for sneazy was! Actually make that 3 dictionaries, as when I typed in sneazy, I have to delete part of it because it keeps saying sneezy! Where did you find sneazy?
ReplyDeleteI love to read about your experiences! You write beautifully about this. gym buxton !!! I have enjoyed reading your articles. They are very well written. It looks like you spend a large amount of time and effort in writing the blog. I am appreciating your effort.
