Have a great w/end.
My book has a internal conflict about how Axel has to choose if he want's to fail the job and go back home or be strong and finish the job proudly.
ReplyDeleteduring the weekend, I will try to read more then 100 pages of my reading book, and have at least 10 sticky notes.

ReplyDeleteThe internal conflict of my current reading book is this:
ReplyDeleteShould you battle on through your sadness, or listen to others and leave your grief behind?
What i want to get better at:
Being a more sophisticated writer. Often my writing is shallow and empty, i want to change that for the better.
Also, identifying: Tough decisions, Aha moments, Contrasts and contradictions, signs in texts.

What I've been trying to work on – and will keep trying to work on – during this school year is quite fractured, because I haven't tried to put in into words yet, but there certainly is a lot of it. That is to say that I could resolve to work on so many different problems that it would way overwhelm me, so I'll just have to narrow it down to one or two... perhaps three.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, which is probably most important to my teachers here at school, is being more organized. By which I mean that I need to stop misplacing books and other materials I need for my classes, and of course I need to do my homework. How I'll do this, I'm not entirely certain; I have to start by finding all my books, obviously, but then what? I'll use sticky notes, but not for taking notes in books (I don't think I would ever actually want to do that) – I'd use them for writing reminders for myself. "SS homework," for example, "Cornell notes on pg. 42-43." Those sort of reminders. That could help, as well as prioritizing homework to do first when I get home. Okay. Let's say I'm organized. What's next?
I'd like to stop putting myself down - that's for certain. I don't think I can just STOP though. And I'm not sure exactly how I could do that, because it's almost second nature by now. That's not good, not good at all; but how does one stop oneself from thinking something? I don't think it's possible. All I can do is contradict myself every time I do put myself down - then maybe it can become habitual. Oh, I'll leave it at that. I think two goals like those are hard enough to accomplish without making it any harder...
Wow, Mr. Buxton, it sure is hard to try and write with totally proper sentences. I don't think I succeeded, but at least I have some conjunctions up there, and complex/compound sentences.

ReplyDeleteI am reading The Giver right now, and one of the latest conflicts Jonas has is should he lie? He has been brought up all his life, taught not to lie, where even an exaggeration like "I'mm starving" is a lie, because ""he is simply hungry, everyone in the town has food to eat, hence nobody is starving." However, after getting the job of the receiver, he is told that he can lie. At this point in the story, Jonas doesn't know what to do. Should he lie, like his instructions say, or should he tell the truth like earlier?
ReplyDeleteFriday message: Over the next few weeks, I would like to try and spend less time on my screen. I realised that since school started, I've been spending more time on my screen than I should, still getting used to doing homework again. Over the next few weeks, I would like to try and not use my laptop after 6 pm, or at the latest, 7 pm.
The internal conflict in my book, Catching Fire, should Katniss obey they Capitol and live a life with Peeta or should she run away with her family?
ReplyDeleteWhat I want to get better at:
Over the summer, I realised I was out and about with my friends, but after school started, I completely forgot about that and only spent time on my computer. I will try to spend less time on the screen by turning off skype and gmail chate whenever I need to focus on homework.
The internal conflict in this book is that the main character is struggling to decide if he should take power or give someone else the position. He thinks that if he takes power, he will become power hungry and corrupt and become a dictator. Should he take power, or should he give power to someone else?
ReplyDeleteThe Internal conflict of my book is should he risk himself for someone else or not?
ReplyDeleteI want to get better at writing sticky notes by adding more better and specific details and actually putting some of my thinking into the sticky note.
My book's internal conflict is would an individual believe in herself/himself, or should he/she believe in the society and government and stop themselves for believing in themselves.
ReplyDeleteI really want to make sure that I have time to spend with my family because after school started me and my family have basically gone into their own world. We also don't have time to talk to each other about our daily lives.

I found the internal conflict in this book by connecting it to the setting - which is the Victorian times. So, the internal conflict is: how can his/her behavior change when he/she starts making more money?
ReplyDeleteI really want to start disconnecting from the online world. I feel as if during the summer, I did well in putting my phone down, or looking up from it more often than not. But, ever since school started, I've been staying locked in my room, skyping my friends or texting them when really I see them everyday at school, and I don't see my family. I think that I should start to unlock my door, and spend some quality time with the people that I don't get to see for 7 hours a day.
The internal conflict is how Jonas has to chose whether to listen to everyone and obey or not.
ReplyDeleteI will try to work on reading at least 100 pages to attempt to finish my book my this weekend. This will help my stamina of reading.
I want to work harder at reading harder books and not being a plot junky. The internal Among the Hidden is if Luke Garner should go to the rally with Jen by risking his life or betraying Jen and hiding in darkness forever.
ReplyDeleteFriday Message(I'm not far enough in to my book to get an internal conflict). Over the next few weeks I want to focus on trying to improve my sticky notes by really only noticing the stuff that matters the most.
