  3. Can someone post the list of vocab. words for the Northeast Test and their defentions? I have the list but I left it at school. Thanks!

  4. atlantic coastal plain- the low flat area along the atlantic coastline

    apps.- an acient mountain range that runs through the northeast region

    glacier- a massive sheet of ice that slowly moves over the land changin its shape

    port-a trading center along a waterway where ships load and unload people and goods

    bay- a place where the ocean cuts far into the land

    urban- relating to a city area

    suburban- relating to an area around a city where many people live

    metropolis- the combined area of a city and its suburbs

    megalopolis- an area with more than one metropolitan area

    commuters- people who travel from one area to another usually to get to and from work

    quarry- a huge hole that is dug into the groundin order to retrieve stone

    immagrant- a person who moves his or her residence from one country to another

    tourist- a person who visits a place to find out what its like

    economy- the way people make, sell and buy goods and services

    cape- a piece of land that juts out into the ocean

    we need to know states and capitals, vocab., SSS and GRAAB techniques using Northeast facts, our Connect Four Grid and probaly study those mind maps we filled out in groups.

  23. Don't forget guys when you are studying for the northeast test that a urban + suburban= metropolis. think do you live downtown in an apartment or do you live a little away from downtown and work downtown. That is just a helpful reminder.

  24. Also, metropolis+metropolis=megalopolis. Abbie- On the map Mr. Buxton gave us if there is no lake on it you do not need to worry about it.

    go to http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu and type in your animal's name and then there will be a box that tells everything from Kingdom to species

  43. I am having the hardest time trying to upload the powerpoint onto my thumb drive. Does anybody know how to do that?

  44. Maddie- I would just e-mail it to Mr. Buxton or put it on google docs.

    (this is for mac i don't know windows)
    First save it to desktop in the finder
    Then put your thumbdrive in
    Next click on desktop and then drag your powerpoint to your USB key or whatever.
    Your USB key sould show up under idisk or your printer name like mine is "Machintosh HD" or really under "Devices" then it sould be on there.

    I have another way to do it if that dosn't work :-)
