Week 8 Day 1

This link below takes you to the exercises you need to do to practice for Wednesday's Sentence Fluency Test.  The more practice you do, the better you will perform. YOUR ASSESSMENT IS WEDNESDAY
Mr. Buxton's 5th Grade Class SAS: Setnence Fluency Test Practice (spend 15 mins on some tonight and 15 minutes on some tomorrow night)

Make sure you have at least 3 different SSS techniques in your Great Explorer Nota. (Bring a PRINTED version of your Nota to class on Wednesday. - We will have 45mins of class on Tuesday to work on your NOTAS

  1. Emma- I will finish the map of the great explorer. I'm also gonna write a paragraph on his life. What were the dates he was born on and died on? Try and get more facts from wikipedia or something, okay?

  15. Mr. Buxton, what is the difference between a phrase and an independent clause? You need to know for many of the tests on sentence fluency.

  17. also my nota doesn't have all the gadgets and doesn't have the map. there's either something wrong with nota or my computer can anyone give me feedback on how your nota is working????

    maddy - good question. An independence clause has both a subject and a predicate (verb) e.g. peter (subj) played tennis (predicate) A phrase is missing either subj. or the predicate or both

    On saturday, (phrase)
    During the party, (phrase)
    Since he came late (clause - has both a subject and verb)

    make sense?

  27. I need help describing that sensation where you feel like your stomach is gonna come out of your mouth. You know what I mean? Like when you're on the drop of a rollercoaster.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

  30. Thanks, Anisha, the exiting idea is good, but do you know what I mean? That sensation people can get? It's not throwing up it's like your stomach is doing flips or something.
