  1. Mr. Buxton, this is a hypothetical question. If you forget your reading log at school, can you record your reading at home on a sheet then fill it up at school or does it not count? I have my reading log just saying. I need it for future reference. Thanks, Nakul

  2. Well, I think I have it.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I presume you can, Nakul. And I know it was a hypothetical question.

  4. Mr. Buxton, you know how you said that our reading time and pages read should be equal (or you read more pages than the minutes read), but if they aren't you will question us. What about when you stop to write down your thinking? Would it be okay if you wrote one sticky note and read 16 pages in 19 minutes? Could we make up for reading slowly by reading faster next time? Or should we always write down what we are thinking?

  5. Yah! I mastered the IXL.

    I think.....

    ReplyDelete
  6. Great question, Maya! I was wondering about that, too.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I think you can subtract the total of seconds for each sticky to get your final one or just paste your stickies and write them at the end

    ReplyDelete
  8. and thanks maddy! I just realized it was true! I think I did leave it at school! Maya remember Mr. you know who and Mrs.Early tomorrow. Don't you think we're unlucky!

    ReplyDelete
  9. assume nothing!

nakul- yeah. we are going to time how long it takes us to write our sticky notes

anyone who is arguing about needing a cell-phone- if you realized you are a power 3 short, here is a good one, and is realistic because it just happened to me: EASA has just ended, your mom didn't pick up the phone when you tried to call her using the school phone. you had to hurry off to the bus. when you come home, ou find that the lift is closed off. you travel by the fire lift. when you reach home, you bang and ring the doorbell for around 10 minutes, but nobody replies. if you had a cell-phone, you could have called your mom and asked her to open the door.

  10. I think you guys mean rhetorical, not hypothetical.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yah, you're right, Anisha. I did mean rhetorical.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Nakul - Who's Mr. you know who? And don't you think it's a little mean to say you're unlucky to be going to that teacher?

  14. yes... that is perfectly fine nakul. It's not about msaking mistakes, it's about finding ways to correct them

Good question - I completely agree that reading rates will change. My guide was just a guide over multiple sessions, not somethig written in stone.

anisha-- you have too many 'you's in that passage

  19. When it says keep your log up to date does it mean our reading log with all the tabs, like letters or the reading log thing we got just today in our book bag?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Wait, Anisha what are you talking about?

    ReplyDelete
  21. YAH! I finished all my homework! :):):0;0

    ReplyDelete
  22. what do you mean what am i talking about?

  24. Here is something I got out of the apple dictionary. this is for those of you who said that deliciousness isn't a word:

    delicious |diˈli sh əs|
    adjective
highly pleasant to the taste : delicious home-baked brown bread.
    • delightful : a delicious irony.
    DERIVATIVES
    deliciously adverb
    deliciousness noun
ORIGIN Middle English (also in the sense [characterized by sensuous indulgence] ): via Old French from late Latin deliciosus, from Latin deliciae (plural) ‘delight, pleasure.’

  25. Alex- they are all somehow academic in my mind.

  26. should this sentence be like this:

In the first place our bus lady is prejudiced, harsh, and nasty which makes her undoubtedly the meanest bus lady in the school.

    or like this:

In the first place our bus lady is prejudiced, harsh, and nasty which makes her undoubtedly the meanest bus lady in the school for a variety of dreadful reasons

  28. But Maddy!! HE does creep us out and he embarrassed us infront of his class!!! By he I mean Mr.Kennedy! He scares us and he insults us! Well he doen't insult us but make us feel guilty. And Anisha, I do mean hypothetical. Hypothetical means if. Like If I die what will happen? IF you die it's not like your dead right?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Nice word Aditya! Prejudiced! Anisha I don't get it either. I'll ask Mrs.Shaw in the morning. You can come with me too!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Well if you guys (Anisha and Nakul) don't get it, I probably won't either. But I'll look at it and try first. Thank you SO much for the Math Olympiads reminder, Anisha. I get it now, Nakul.

  31. han, since you showed me the 8th grade thing on ixl, i started doing positives and negatives in 8th grade. I eventually figured out that it had nothing to do with the lesson that was taught today.

    ReplyDelete
  32. So You guys want to come to Mrs.Shaw's together? I'll be at the school between 6:50 and 7:00 but I might oversleep like I've done for the last 4 days. ( I was sick!)

    ReplyDelete
  33. I get problems 1 and 3 but 2 and 4 are not making much sense. If you read the problem hard enough for 1 and 3 you should easily get an answer!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anisha & Nakul- I made a screenr to help you with the SL

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oops! forgot the link
    http://www.screenr.com/BNFs

    ReplyDelete
  36. Maya the Screenr Master! You love screenr as much I as I love technology! I made 2 comments on your screenr. REALLY HELPFUL! Little chatty.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Thanks for the comments Anisha. I don't think I have that application, nut I found my geometry template. Whew!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Maya, you need to buy a replacement if you can't find it. Also, how are you going to actually use the temple online?

P.S. I thought you were calling me a nut at first, but then I realized you meant "but".

    ReplyDelete
  39. Maddy if you are having trouble with 2 and 4, Maya explains 2 quite well on the screenr.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Sorry, typo. Instead of temple I meant template.

    ReplyDelete
  41. sorry maya thought you found an online one

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anisha the Person? Anyways thanks Maya. Was really helpful. Another way to make it better is if your printer has a scanner as well. Place it where you photo copy things. (This is for macs only) go to your system preferences. Go to Print and Fax. Go to the scan tab and click open scanner. Then click scan and choose to open it in preview. You can then email it or put it up on your blog etc.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Anisha also, don't copy definitions of dictionary.com because it was not in your words and COOL is going to be a banned word so we should start practicing to NOT use the word.

    ReplyDelete
  44. And thanks for the reminder as well.

    ReplyDelete
  45. nakul- i said it was from apple dictionary so that people know that that definition wasn't mine.

yes, i am Anisha the Person. i am now a qualified person.
