Make sure you have finished reading your bookclub book. Reading responses will begin tomorrow.

Use these to help with your emotive
Feelings/Emotions  Word list

Today we looked at the challenging topic called interpretive association. The expectation is that you integrate these techniques into your reading responses. Do not try to use all of them at the same time; three or four of them will add depth to your  interpretations.

Tomorrow we begin a reading response on your book club book - INDIVIDUALLY. This will be a second summative grade for this interpretation unit. You will have two days and the weekend to finish you Reading response. See mentor texts from last year.

Next Week

  • If you missed your subjects and predicates test on Friday, you will do it on Wednesday.
  • If you did not turn in your suspense writing (many people from C/D class) make sure it is copied on the 'Suspense summative' doc in your drive. I will just enter this grade as zero after Wednesday if I do not receive this work!
  • There are still a few people who are missing grades for identity project. I will not continue to chase you! Get this work to this resubmitted work file as soon as possible.

All classes: Your 'quote sandwich' from Friday's class should be turned into this link. Students to copy and paste that writing in this document here.  You will be given 15 minutes in class on Wednesday to do any finishing touches. My expectation is that you work just as hard with a substitute as you do when I am in class. This  work will be graded!

How does your piece compare with this one?

Next Week
  • Book Club Conversation Assessment
  • Summative Reading Response
  • Interpretive Association:  This is difficult! Are you ready to think abstractly? What do you notice about the difference between the way this text is being interpreted?
