WAR HORSE REFLECTION
I think the movie War horse was sad because
1) the black horse died
2) Joey was taken away from that boy (forgot name)
3) the family basically lost there money
Some things I thought were messed up
1) Too many charters to focus on
2) it wasn't very clear what side was what
Other than that my prediction was that it was going to be a boring movie but it turned out emotional and stuff.
I thing the big Idea is A Journey or friendship because
1) A journey because Joey traveled from place to place first the boy then the army then the other side of the army, to the girl, back to the army then finally back to the boy
2) Friendship because the boy had a good connection with joey and even do he was far away from him he still ended up being together again.
Thank you for reading

Some of your thoughts were really good Rachel, but I don't really think you were digging so deep into the onion.

I actually think the big idea is courage/journey cause for some reason the the owners of the horse kept changing and the main character(boy, forgot name) never gave up on the horse..

Mr.Buxton my mom and dad told me everything. Did Ms.Asni and you think I was absent or missing if so that would explain everything yoiu kept on asking me and stuff....

Han said...

And I left my backpack on the side of my desk when we went to Chinese cause yuo told us to just leave everything where it is. Well, that might be the reason you and Ms.Asni thought I was missing... (My backpack wasn't in my cubby)

Mr.Buxton can my nouns poem have 15 lines instead of 16 because I'm doing my stanzas in 3

Maddy Z said...

Of course, Rachel. It just has to have APPROXIMATELY 16 lines, not exactly.

Maddy Z said...

Mr. Buxton, when I searched the internet for something and a wikipedia website came up, I click on it and this message was there:
For over a decade, we have spent millions of hours building the largest encyclopedia in human history. Right now, the U.S. Congress is considering legislation that could fatally damage the free and open Internet. For 24 hours, to raise awareness, we are blacking out Wikipedia.

George said...

Mr. Buxton, I don't really get what you were saying today about how Riya was focusing her poem on Emactoins and Zach was focusing his on Oberservations of the pictures. Can you help me? If not I'll do my best.

Nick said...

hey guys....first a line is a sentance right? second Mr.Buxton todays post says war "house" not war "horse".

Maddy Z said...

Not necessarily Nick. In poetry, it is kind of different.

Nick said...

so its like spacing?

Maddy Z said...

well, take this poem for example (this is just the first 5 lines):
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Each one of those lines is a separate line, but it isn't really a sentence.

Rachel L said...

never mind its now 23 lines I thought of some more.
here is my poem I don't know if I should print it and stick it on so I need some advice.

All happy, sound asleep
Thinking of dreams with wonderful things,
Waking up with loud beeps.

Spreading butter on pieces of bread
Getting into the car with a heavy bag,
Didn’t finish my homework, so I need some pencil leads.

Porsches driving on the highway
Hot green watermelons sitting in the sun
I’m going to be late for school but who cares anyways.

Sitting in School learning math,
While whispering to your friends,
Is just like taking the wrong path.

A group of people eating lunch,
Is like a house of cards about to fall
While everybody is drinking fruit punch.

Just a few more subjects to do,
Then the day is almost over
All these subjects are boring,
Like the opposite of four leaf clovers

Finally I’m back home
Where its peace and quiet
Got a lot of Homework,
Do you?

Nick said...

SO WE HAVE TO DO 23 LINES NOW NOT 16??

Aditya.k said...

can somebody please tell me what part 1 is for social studies project

Maddy Z said...

It's NOT 23 lines. It's APPROXIMATELY 16 lines and at LEAST 20 nouns.

Han said...

Nick no, it is still 16 it means Rachel has 23 lines but you don't need to have 23 lines she just does cause she thought of more

Nick said...

kk thanks and part one of the project is to get 2 strong medafores...

Nick said...

me spell bad! =O

Han said...

Mr.Buxton- Can I use SOME anomateapia(don't know how to spell) in my noun poem example: (I will use if Mr.Buxton says yes) pitter patter pitter patter...

Maddy Z said...

I wanted to see what I would come up with, so I searched 'life' (my poem is about that) and then clicked the 'pictures' and one of the pictures was of this text saying something. It was quite interesting.

Pack Of Deer
By: Harrisen pike

As fast as a
Squadroun of lions
Full of fear
As strong as
Mushroom-Men

As exited as
Pigeons eating
Fries

As fast as
Matt Forte
Full of passion

As cool as volley balls
Full of
Molecules

As shiny as a
Dark brown log

And as unique as
The Statue of liberty

Nothing can beat a
Pack of Deer

THX

Han said...

welcome

berrysweetπ said...

Harrisen- That's better, but I think what you really want is instead of having the "as" in the first line, have it in the second line with the comparison. For example, instead of having:
As exited as
Pigeons eating fries

You could have:

As exited
as Pigeons eating fries

Or:

As exited
as Pigeons
eating fries

ME BACK!!!!

What catches the eye by:Nicholas B.

scortching hot deserts,
life within the sands.
Bone freezing tundras,
Baren life less lands.

Crouded City Streets,
Rushing left to right.
Rome's Broken colloseum,
Frozen in time.

Mount Everists Gase,
Gateway to heaven.
Sea's Endless Depths ,
Ailens of the dark.

Nick said...

and how could I put the Plural nouns in there?

Unknown said...

Wow...
What did they fight for again....free speech!
It won't happen

Rachel ..did I not say that it is often better to have stanzas that are 4 lines long

Splashtop ...costs 4.99 from u.s. iTunes store

George... They were finding connections with images in their collages

Nick...use capitals letters correctly

Harrison ...look at your line breaks... Make sure there is a reason for each new line

Nick said...

how could I though?

Good but you need to fix the capitalization like what Mr.B said

War horse reflection:

I really liked the movie, especially when all of those people were trying to get Joey but he always ran back to Albert, that was really entertaining. It was so sad when Joey got stuck on no mans land because of the wires.
Improvements: I think the movie could look a bit more up to date (maybe)

Connections: the movie reminds me of a chestnut horse named Cocoa who was at a horse farm kind of place. I would always ride her everyday and I would win races with her. She was soooo sweet! But the people at the farm said she couldn't jump high enough ( which I disagree ) so they would unfortunately have to sell her. So I had my last race with her and gave her hugs (which felt like she was hugging back) and said my good-bye's and before I knew it, I switched horses. None of the others were as sweet as her.

Hi guys can you please tell me if these are two good metaphors.
1.) Life is a journey, travel it well.
2.) The Road Not Taken

Maybe you could change the 2nd one Harrisen cause the road not taken is a poem by Shiel Silverstein...

ohh thx han

berrysweetπ said...

Han-the road not taken is by Robert Frost.

Han said...

Opps well yeah still...

Caroline said...

I think that the big idea of the movie is that you should never love anything too much. it shows this when the War Horse, Joey, gets sepperated from so many of the people/horses he loves. Such as Albert, the red horse, the little girl, the two brothers, the two friends...

Caroline said...

In the book I just read, Brand New Emily, that poem was what the whole book was about basicly.

Caroline said...

r these good metaphors?

life is... a journey, a dance, a dream

and

love is a crocodile in the river of desire

Harrisen(M) said...

yep

Han said...

hmm umm what do you call a group of plants I tried to look it up but that was just no help at all.

were supposed to have 16 lines in are poem or more or less

Poem:

Rain in the Air
By: Han Sohn
Rain in the air,
Drizzle, like a soft melody.
Raindrops splatter,
Like streams of water.

From Singapore to America,
All around the earth pouring.
Feeds a bouquet of flowers day and night.

Drops of rain glide off the window,
Herd of animals scamper for shelter.
Fresh scent of nature,
Fills the air.

Slurp warm cups of Latte, on a chilly rainy day.
Rain falls onto the ocean floor and mountains.
Rain in the air.
