You must come to class tomorrow with prepared to discuss your book club piece as a group. While this is happening, you will begin writing your final RF piece. You should have ideas for a solid outline already completed
H/W - Bring one link that relates in someway to a big idea in your book club text. This can be a song, poem, video clip, magazine article, poster. In Thursday's class, you will work as a book club on your second summative assessment using these links. Do not let your team down by forgetting to bring something in! - DUE THUR
G/H - You do not have to do this H/W! - You must read the story you were given in class and think about a link that goes with the story. This can be a song, poem, video clip, magazine article, poster.
Next Tue, Wed, Thur are MAP tests. You DO NOT have to study for these tests; however, you can learn the vocabulary that OFTEN appears in the questions. Just target words that you do not know and work on them!
To redo the sentence fluency test, you need to provide evidence (screen shots) that you have completed 6 online exercises, and you must submit a paragraph that contains 12 sentences (or more) - 3 of each sentence construction technique. Once this is submitted - you can retake the test. This option is open for 3 weeks.

Lesson RECAP - But your characters into everyday situations

Make sure you are prepared to deliver your explanation of your book club image in class tomorrow and your grammar explanation. (G/H class: Follow Ms Beltinck's guidelines for your grammar work) Book club images MUST be copied into the file below (use your phone then copy paste the image)
Do some grammar exercises for practice. New links added Practice Questions (G/H Follow Ms. Beltinck's instructions for your grammar practice. You are welcome to do these links if you choose as you will take the same test.)
This week you will do a variety of difference assessments. The schedule is below:
Monday: 1st Book Club Feedback: What is the novel teaching you about the social issue(s) woven into the plot? This will be assessed in the form of a drawing that captures your thinking about your story. Drawings/diagrams will be turned into this file (photographs of a composition notebook page) by Tuesday.In Tuesday's class, you will explain your drawing to me in a 1:1 conference. - We will start this in class on Monday.
Tuesday: Begin second book clubs
Wednesday/Thursday: (C/D& E/F class only.) Turn in your grammar Sentence Fluency Memory tool. This can take any form you choose. You will explain your memory tool in a 1:1 conference with me. Be ready for Wednesday, some of you will conference with me Thursday.
Thursday: Grammar Sentence Fluency Test. This will be a 40 question multiple choice assessment on your knowledge of simple, compound, complex sentences. You will also have to be able to spot RUN-ON sentences as well (Fused sentences and Comma Splices). Practice Questions
Friday: Turn in a realistic fiction written scene that captures a social issue. We will write another one of these this week and you will choose one scene to turn in for a grade on Friday. You will have to write an author's note explaining any craft and structure moves you make. e.g. how you develop the social issue through the scene or how you have shown who has the power in the scene.
Friday: Membean Test: 50 words. Will you have your 80minutes?
Choose one social issue that you are interested in and watch the video. Take notes on the video.
H/W
Find an article related to the social issue you investigated - use the library resource list database. (Due. Thur)
Remember: Come with an idea for your grammar Memory hook for tomorrow.

Poetry Recitation Redos - My classroom Wed. from 7:30am onwards
H/W - You need to turn in your poetry Top 10 by Thursday. You must END your Poetry Top 10 with a copy of your final 'original poem' and your author's note.
Task: Name the 'top 10' things you have learned to do as a poet.
You must provide an example of each one - (you cannot copy examples from class.) Use examples from your own work or poems you find.
Use attractive slide design
Narrate your slides using quicktime screen recorder or iMovie
You must END your Poetry Top 10 with a copy of your final 'original poem' and your author's note.
