Book Club

Kudos today for the leading roles played in book clubs by Riya, Maddy, Emma, and Caroline.
Points to consider for tomorrow's conversation:
  • Quote the salient point/repeat other people's ideas
  • Accept and reject ideas
  • Offer your opinion through questions
  • Make personal connections / show empathy
  • Summarize take-aways if possible as the conversation develops
  • Use GC terminology
Synonyms of I Think...
I'd like to argue/suggest.
In my opinion
Ask a question

Will you shine tomorrow?
Luke is a pessimistic coward who allows himself to be intimidated and bullied by his brothers, his dad, and even his mom. He needs to grow a backbone and learn to stand up for himself.

If you have box, use word. (Dropbox is ok too) if you don't have that, then use google docs.

mr buxton, do we have to type up our stories? because i have alot of writing.

Mr. Buxton, I'm changing my setting from Hawaii to a fantasy place called Resurrection Bay. I wanted it to be in an island so I made in the Pacific about 100 miles away from Japan. Is that better because the place gets contaminated.

Nakul -

A: Allie has half as much as Ben. Ben has $3 more than Emma. Emma has 5 times as much money as Shauna. Shauna $1. How much money do Allie and Ben have together?

Maddy Z said...

B & D you need to use the diagram they give you beside the picture.

C: Sarah and Tyler ride their bikes. They start at the same time from the same point in the same direction. Sarah travels 20 miles every hour, and Tyler travels k15 miles every hour. At the end of how many hours will Sarah be 30 miles ahead of Tyler?

D: Michael has some card. If he puts them in 5 equal piles, there are 3 left over. If he puts them in 4 equal piles, there are 2 left over. If he puts them in 3 equal piles, there is 1 card left over. What is the fewest cards Michael may have?

Anonymous said...

Didn't we do that last year? I remember that question

Maddy Z said...

Yeah, I asked Mrs. Shaw the same thing and she said yes...

Anonymous said...

For B can you tell me the question? I'll draw the picture and solve it tomorrow. Anisha comes early so I could ask her
