The Ubuntu Project - Letters from KIPP

I received the first reply to your letters from KIPP over the weekend. Others to follow.

Dear Breck Stenson and Cady Hammer

My name is Joy Washington and I'm a 5th grader at KIPP charlotte. I'm glad that I'm working with you. The biggest goal at KIPP is to prepare us for college, I found out that is your big goal to.

One of your questions was what big projects do you have this year? Well, so far we will have two projects in history class, one is a slave diary we will make. The second one is we are going to act out the civil war. The amount of home work that we have is about two assignments in each block. Since we have four blocks that's eight assignments altogether. We stay in school from 7:30am to 5pm. When school is over I am VERY tired, but it's worth it because I get the education I need.

I have a few questions for you and they are, what colleges do you want to end up in? What are your activities at school like? What do you do each day to get better? I hope to see you soon!!!

From, Your friend Joy Washington at KIPP

Tomorrow, we will work on 'Conclusion' and refining your ideas for the Ubuntu Project. This is the last week with no H/W sheet. Have you balanced your workload other the course of this project effectively so as to comfortably meet Friday's deadline?

Is this a good conclusion?????????????????????????????

In conclusion, Kansas’s variety is like a rainbow floating through the sky. A newly manufacturing airplane engines roaring and miners picking are green and violet. Picturesque plains, sensational sand dunes, and major urban areas are all part of the unique way Kansas was formed and are the red, yellow, and orange colors. The blue is the halite sparkling in the slim light of Ellinwood cave waiting to become a factor to Kansas. When you put Kansas together like a puzzle, just as Dorothy said, “It’s over the rainbow.”

Does this sound okay? PLEASE GIVE ME SUGGESTIONS TO HELP THE PAPER!!!

Tennessee
“ Gods Shadow on Earth”

In conclusion, Tennessee wins over any state with its crystalline beauty. Tennessee is like a splash of three different colors painted on a blank canvas. Cement filling the long highways of Tennessee and music shows beginning at the Grand old Oprey is the vibrant yellow expressing that just little changes in industry can add some flare and adversity. The red standing for passion is the “Trail of Tears” occurring in 1830 along when Tennessee blossomed as a state on June 1st,1769. Lastly, the color blue is the soft Gulf Coastal plain along with the cool, calm, chilly rivers such as Chickamauga and Douglas. Just as any person would say Tennesse is truly a place of caring passion and love also known as “Gods Shadow on Earth”.

Hi, I was sick today. I am not sure if I will be there tomorrow as I am not feeling 100% yet. What is the homework for tonight?

Bekah said...

Gaurave the homework is 8.3 in math workbook and type up first draft of conclusion. The conclusion is in your power writing booklet and you can find mentor text and how to do it where the introduction mentors were. The examples in the booklet are all simple lanugauge except for one of them which was New Hampshire "The worlds Greatest show" or something similiar. Other than simple lanugauge it is Metaphor which is telling like a story with your conclusion by using your power '0'.
