oh and one thing. Mr Buxton i found a certain way to catorgize my notes but i want to start researching with the books before i get big on the internet. Do you think i will get behind if i start notes tommorow?

Unknown said...

Cady,
the 3 levels are obvious, unlikely, and abstract. The obvious level is level 1 and would be people we've allready studied or famous. The unlikely level is level 2 and would be thinking outside the box. The abstract level is the highest level and would be basing you nomination on something like hope or love.

hope this helps!:)

Feel better Soon, Cady!

what is the login for brittanica online???

CH said...

Thanks, Breck. That helped a lot. One more question. Are we allowed to ask our parents for help?

Unknown said...

YES CH.

This is an academic event that seeks people to go beyond the obvious. Often we don't need to look just at world figures for great examples of leadership; we can simply look closer to home. Furthermore, leadership could be attached to an intangible idea souch as freedom or 'example'... It was be so easy to argue that the greatest leader in history has simply been 'example'

Bennett Smith
This is my natural resource draft for my 3rd component
coments welcome
Envision the drilling and picking of the miners slowly making their way through the mines. Kansas does not have one very famous natural resource like gold of North Carolina or Potatoes of Idaho, but it has a huge variety around the state. Minerals make a huge impact to the economy, and they are located throughout the land of Kansas. “The Sunflower State” is the nation’s leader in Helium. Helium from Kansas is used for things like rocket fuels, scuba diving, and novelty balloons. Kansas produced 34 million barrels in 2001 of of helium, having an estimated price of $750 million. Additionally, Oil reserves together total almost 240 million barrels full. Halite, salt coming from the brine wells in Central Kansas, was Kansas’s second most abundant mineral in 1998, and it is also held accountable for 23% of the state’s mineral production. The annual halite output was 3.23 million metric tons in 1998.
The most important natural resource in Kansas is the soil. The agricultural success is in debt to the soft, fertile soil perfect for growing crops. Northwest and Central Kansas have fertile soil, but they don’t get as much precipitation. Huge droughts in the 1950’s made the citizens and farmers learn their lesson about conserving soil and water. Tornadoes also damage the soil that has contributed to the economy tremendously. Because of the strong winds, grass is planted over the soil so it doesn’t blow away. Most of the soil in Kansas is dark brown or black, but Barber County is the county with the most red soil.
Natural gas is the most valuable product that comes from a well. The largest natural gas field is Hugoton. Hugoton expands all the way through Oklahoma and into Texas. The monthly average for natural gas from Hugoton is over 32 billion cubic feet.

Lauren said...

mr buxton
if you are doing historical events for a componet
do you do the history of the state or just a bunch of different events????

Thanks

Unknown said...

cady, I think that means assume nothing, witch means that he is asking you to explain what vegas is.

PS. group leaders dont HAVE to nominate someone because we are writing the letter to the kipp students. (ive done the rough draft. we're gonna proofread it tomorrow and tomorrow night we'll be adding the corrections)

MR. Buxton, is this a good introduction

Kansas
"If there's anything better than life--it's life in Kansas.”
-Chamber of Commerce 1930

Imagine the loud honk of the tractor’s engine as it farms the wheat of of the plant. Rolling hills that seem to stretch for miles, sand dunes that glisten in the blood boiling sun, and skyscrapers of Topeka, the capital, are all contributions to the paradise state of Kansas. Picturesque plains, sensational sand dunes, and major urban areas are all geographical features. While walking through Wichita, citizens stare up in the sky and see airplanes being manufactured and tested. Halite sparkles in the slim light of the cave, and it prepares itself to get mined and be a factor of the economical success. You better hop on the tractor because here comes the action.

who is beth?

Unknown said...

Read what you wrote carefully Bennett, how many airplanes are made inthe sky? 'you' ! you need to intrdouce each component without making it obvious that you are introducing each component eg. don't say geographical features.

Bekah - 10 sentences in total for everything seems very short! 20 soounds closer to the point

go Reds, i mean Blues...I mean Greens...not sure what I mean :-)

Don't for get KIPP letters. The lady is coming tomorrow to pick them up, so please print them out if you can.

Catie said...
