Realistic Fiction Writing

A number of students still have not turned in some assignments:  Reading Responses, Slam poems,  Diction and Details Assessment. The window for resubmitting these pieces of work closes NEXT Wednesday. Check your powerschool for any 'F' - Failed to Submit.  If you do have any 'Fs' - Turn your work into the: Resubmitted Work Folder

Extended Metaphor

1) Write your name on your extended metaphor slide (and your partner's name)
2) Make a copy of just that slide (right click/copy) from your poetry portfolio
3) Paste the slide into the extended metaphor file below for your class.
This saves me precious minutes when grading instead of opening 60+ files, I need to open just three. Thank you

Great News!
KOBO eReaders. In a few weeks, a few classes in 7th grade will pilot a new 'eReader program. This means that many of you will be given your own eReader to use and take home. I need to preload all these eReaders with the best novels for 7th graders. Please state in a comment a 'must have' book that you believe should be on the eReader. Only choose the very best of the best you have read. eReaders once I get the BEST books loaded on them... approx 100+

Enjoy Ibby's slam poem...Nice attitude!

A good book could be the Giver, the Hunger Games, and the Divergent series

There are a couple of books that I think would be great on the eReaders.
1. Divergent
2. The Giver
3. The Fault in our Stars
4. Girl Missing

The sentence things make so much sense to me now! These extra practices are so helpful. The realistic fiction social issues is really fun!

I am actually surprised that no one put this one book that everyone that I know of has recommended to everyone else I know of. it's called Wonder, in case you haven't heard about it! A few others are...
1. The City of Ember
2. The People of Sparks
3. The Prophet of Yonwood
4. The Diamond of Darkhold
5. Hope Was Here
6. Eragon
7. Eldest
8. Brisingr
9. The Accidental Hero
10. The Secret War
11. The End of Infinity
12. Elephant Run
13. Alex Rider (Series)
14. H.I.V.E (Series)
15. Brotherband Chronicles (Series)
16. Rangers Apprentice Series (Read this series before the Brotherband Chronicles)
17. Artmemis Fowl (Series)
18. Kane Chronicles (Series)
19. Pictures of Hollis Woods (Not a Series)
20. The Hobbit (Get past the first 100 or so pages and you can survive the book)
21. Lord of the Flies
22. Life As We Knew It
23. Ungifted
And finally, (Not necessarily the best, JUST KIDDING!) Moby Dick. I know it sounds weird that I put it as the best, but it is actually really good! There are two versions, I would recomend them both!

Wow Ibby your poem is really good. Especially when you talk in the voice of that snobby girl it really brings out the inner emotions of your poem and your tone and facial expressions throughout the video were just very strong. Great job!

Though BREAK is a great book, some other great books are : Lirael, Sabriel, Abhorsen (All In A Series) They really make you think about different / alternative ways the story could curve. I really love these books.

I'd suggest the book, 'Kira Kira.' I cried so much while reading this novel. Another suggestion would be 'A Wrinkle in Time' and 'Ender's Game.' These are probably my three favorite books in the world!
