H/W - Read for 30mins. Tomorrow in class you will be using your SEE THINK WONDER strategy to write a claim ( what the story is really about) for a section of the book you have read.
IMPORTANT: the secret word is Onion ( You will need this word tomorrow!)

The lesson today was very interesting and I will definitely have to work on it. It is a very tricky but helpful skill to have.
I am not really sure I really understand the wonder part and writing the paragraph, but I can work on it and the lesson was fun.
Today's lesson was a very fun, interactive, and intresting lesson. I think I got the basic's down, now it's just a matter of using the startegy, to uncover the hidden messages and go deeper into the story. This lesson was very helpful, and I was suprised by what I could find out just by digging a little deeper, and analyzing the text. Thanks for the awesome lesson today :)
This lesson to me was very surprising to learn. In all of my years learning RLA (or ELA from my Elementary years), I have never learned this type of strategy. Today in class, I only had trouble making the paragraph part, but everything else in this lesson was very fun. I didn't know that you can just make a paragraph by just doing 3-4 steps (See, Think, Wonder, and the paragraph). My old teachers used to say, "dig a little deeper into the text." Now with this lesson, I know exactly what to do when they say that. All in all, this lesson was fun, engaging, and very helpful to me. Thank you. -Lukas Santos
Today's lesson was very interesting because it taught me a new skill to help me go deeper into the text. I want to try to incorporate this skill into my flagging because it is very simple, only 4 steps, but it would really help me to go deeper with my reading. Today I learned many things, for an example, I learned that we need to go deeper on what's happening. Like if there's an object in a book, then think of what it means in the story. Also, I learned to use this method - See, Think, Wonder - It helps me make my paragraphs stronger. - Shreya
Today, I have actually learned a lot from the other students. This was because when our task was explained to us, I really didn't have the thinking mindset and didn't understand how to find the secret message, but, when Tanisha stood up, I realised how deep you have to look in the book and how the simplest objects could actually symbolize a very important part of the character or story.
I really enjoyed today's lesson because I got to know how a strategy of how to know what's really happening in the story. I also learnt about how to have an open mindset when you're reading and not just focus on the plot. I don't use any strategies while reading YET, so I hope that after this course of RLA I'm able to know good strategies to read. The first one helped a lot too.

I learnt a lot in class today. When you first explained how to see, think, wonder I was slightly confused and couldn't understand how you dug so deep. When we did British Parliament I then understood how to dig deeper. I understood that a small detail or a word that comes up again and again usually has a big meaning. Like how the purse could be looked at as her life and her feelings. I also realized that even if everyone reads the same passage they all find out different things and all come to different conclusions.

Thanks Lukas - I will work hard this year to not just 'tell' you to do stuff, but actual show you 'step-by-step' how to get there.
